Okay, I'm a big, insanely huge, unreasonable Rush fan. I managed to pick this up because I had taken leave of my senses, and because I figured that if I enjoyed Dream Theater and Steve Morse, surely they wouldn't create an amazingly bad piece of rubbish that manages to degrade every ear that gets NEAR it.

Right?

Wrong. This is... oh man, this is crap among the highest order of crap that even reaches the possibilities of imagination. I don't have the option of giving it negative stars, or else I would have.

From the opening track... it's almost like they're trying to create a parody of otherwise decent (or even great) tunes, in such a way that you're left humming "Springtime for Hitler... and Germany" to yourself. It's that bad.

"Natural Science"... this track makes me want to eat something just so I can throw it up. The vocalist mutters "forget it!" right before the arrangement picks up, leading me to wish he HAD -- and that I could.

Rockers like "Working Man" and "YYZ" are harder to mangle, because they're not particularly intellectual songs, and the obvious drugged-out state of the musicians involved isn't as front and center. "Closer to the Heart" seems actually moderately done, as if some very skilled but otherwise completely soulless robots performed the tune... although again, the vocalist is trying to add flourishes that remove any hope the song might have had of being taken seriously.

This album is awful. Do yourself a favor, and ignore it - or do humanity a service and protest any shop miserable enough to carry it. It's worth the trouble. This is rubbish.

I don't like Steve Morse's playing. He only has one tone, and never changes it. On a personal level, I can't stand the guy. He's not interested in talking to women unless there's a chance that he can get high and have sex with them.

Well, I can give you various Steve Morse songs where he does, in fact, use various tones - but that's a personal taste thing.

But where's this misogynistic thing you're talking about come from? I've not heard anything like that about Steve Morse, ever - and I've seen a lot of people refer to him as a pretty decent human being.
