Google Autolink

posted Friday, 11 March 2005
I've been reading a few blogs about Google AutoLink lately, because I'd never heard of it yet people seemed to be upset. Then it struck me: I'm amused because I'm largely immune. I don't bother running Windows, which is where most of Google's evil is concentrated.

That strikes me as being pretty appropriate. Run an OS for dummies, have evil foisted upon you by entities that otherwise aren't very evil at all.

I think you missed the point of the problem with AutoLink. It doesn't matter if you run Windows or not, its those that view your site. People don't want content added to their site (autolinks). Suppose you sold a product. Because of the Autolink, people will have links to your competitors without your permission.

No, I got the point - I still think it's funny that Windows is the vector for even Google's malfeasances.
